Walkable Cross
The central feature of the Gateway Prayer Garden is an enormous, paved, walkable cross – 200 feet by 300 ft. This reflects the focus of the Garden to connect people with God. As you walk this Cross as a part of the Gateway Prayer Garden experience, we encourage you to open your heart, mind and soul to experience what God has especially for you to connect with Him.
This cross was built with the investment of donors (add link to donate page) who provided funding for the stones to “Pave the Way to the Cross.” The core foundation of this element was initially completed in 2021, with others features and landscaping added to continue to accentuate this aspect of the Garden.
As you walk from the foot of the cross and along each arm, there are stone benches that have engraved stone tables with scriptures engraved on them to tell the story Biblical message from Creation to Jesus’ sacrifice on the Cross, Forgiveness, Baptism, the Great Commission, the enabling Power of God and Biblical Principles for living.
Scripture Stones
Then, as you make your way back to the foot of the cross, the scripture stones encourage us in “how then shall we live” a life with Jesus. We pray that you will experience the enormity of God’s love for you and the fullness of all that He has provided through Jesus and His Word.
The Altar
In the Center of the Cross is an Altar. The Altar is a reminder of God’s Faithfulness and has the Names of God surrounding it and is a place that many sense the overwhelming presence of God.
Garden of Gethsemane
In the East / Right arm of the cross, there is a statue of Jesus Praying in the Garden of Gethsemane that reminds us of the obedience He had to His heavenly Father, even to death on a cross.
The Cross
At the head of the walkable Cross, there is a towering, 20-foot metal cross to represent God’s Love. There are prayers on the cross to experience the Freedom, Healing and Salvation we can have through Jesus’s death on the cross.
The Globe
In the West / Left arm of the walkable cross, there is a large Globe of the World to remind of Jesus’ Great Commission and encourage us to share our experiences of Jesus with the world around us.
