Jesus Praying in Gethsemane

In the right, or East, arm of the walkable cross there is a statue that reminds us of Jesus praying in Gethsemane.  Gethsemane is a garden at the foot of the Mount of Olives where Jesus prayed and experienced deep anguish before his betrayal and arrest, a pivotal event leading to his crucifixion and ultimate sacrifice for us on the Cross.

We are reminded of that Jesus had a choice to make and He choose obedience to His Father and love for us to take the path to the cross.

Jesus prayed in Luke 22, "Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done."  Lord, in the things that I am facing I want to submit and obey to your will, not my own. Thank you for walking this path before me and I ask for your strength to walk with love and obedience as you did to the cross.

In your Name, Amen.
